OPEN HOUSE AT METROPOLITAN BALLET ACADEMY.

MEET THE FACULTY. CHECK OUT THE DANCE STUDIOS!

SEPTEMBER 4 – 7, 2019    3:00 – 7:00 PM.

Nationally recognized Metropolitan Ballet Academy invites new and prospective students and families to visit their studios and meet the Metropolitan faculty on Wednesday, September 4 through Saturday September 7, from 3 – 7 PM daily.  Classes officially begin on Monday, September 9.

Metropolitan has earned recognition from Pointemagazine as one of “seven local studios in America cultivating top talent.” Metropolitan has also been recognized with numerous awards from the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP)national ballet organization, with the school and its director, Lisa Collins Vidnovic, winning several YAGP awards, and its students earning highest honors in local, regional and national competitions.

Lisa Collins Vidnovic launched Metropolitan in 1996, after performing for over a decade with Pennsylvania Ballet, where she was also a Ballet Mistress. At age 14 she received a full scholarship to American Ballet Theatre in New York; at age 16 she began dancing professionally with Chicago’s Lyric Opera Ballet, directed by the renowned Balanchine dancer and muse, Maria Tallchief.

Metropolitan Faculty include: Natalya Lushina Zeiger (former soloist, Bolshoi Ballet); Daniel Mayo (Julliard, formerly BalletX); Sarah Mettin (contemporary chorographer, Jacobs’ Pillow artist and Met alumnus) and Cherie Noble (Ballet Master Teacher, Choreographer). John Selya (ABT, Twyla Tharp, Tony-nominee) joins the faculty this fall as part of the 20thAnniversary of the Boys’ Scholarship Program. “Ms. Collins” teaches classes across all levels. Met dancers broaden their horizons and technique with visits by some of the dance world’s most illustrious guest teaching artists through master classes and workshops in ballet, jazz, modern and theater dance.

The littlest dancers, ages 3-4, and 5-6 year olds, are nurtured in the Creative Movement classes, where discovery and fun are top priorities.  Elementary ballet concepts are combined with modern dance, and the curriculum gradually expands, laying a strong foundation for classical dance training. Highly-skilled teachers have invested years developing age-appropriate, enjoyable and meaningful classes. New this fall: Gymnastics classes!

Metropolitan alumni are dancing in trainee and professional companies across the country, including Pennsylvania Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Joffrey Ballet and more. Many head off to college to study engineering, economics or chemistry, but classical training remains key to their success.

Metropolitan is now accepting registration for boys and girls ages 3 – 18 for its Creative Movement, Youth Division and Pre-Professional Division classes, taught by the school’s outstanding year-round faculty, plus exciting guest artists. Adult classes for beginners and intermediate levels are also ongoing. Classes start Monday, September 9, 2019. Registration is not required for the Sept. 4-7 open house.  For further information, visit www.metropolitanballetacademy.com or call 215.663.1665
