About the Company

The Metropolitan experience - the cycle of classes, invention, rehearsals, performances - is an organizing force in young lives.

Each year, our most committed and accomplished students audition to join Metropolitan’s Pre-Professional Company.  Through the Company, students grow in confidence, increase their ability to understand a problem from multiple points of view, and relish the applause earned in beautiful performances. They forge friendships that endure. This extraordinary group, ranging in age from 12-18, creates a high-energy, supportive community as they take classes, rehearse, and perform together on stage. They know that they are part of the classical tradition, and are moving the art form forward.

Metropolitan continues to expand its opportunities for pre-professional students including new collaborations, community performances, field trips to see faculty and alumni perform, and our Explorations program, designed to connect dancers with professional companies across the nation.

Professional Dancers
Begin Here

Metropolitan Ballet Company dancers commit to a rigorous schedule of classes, rehearsals and performances. After attending a full day of school, our talented dancers arrive at the studio for several hours of classes and rehearsals each night. These young people develop their “super powers” of time management, teamwork and focus, in addition to their considerable technical skills in ballet.

Just as in a professional company, Metropolitan dancers participate in workshops with acclaimed guest artists, audition for roles, and experience the creative surge of having new work choreographed on them. Bringing it all to life in performances throughout the year, for our audiences, is our guiding mission.
