School Policies

Attire

Creative Movement & Pre-Ballet (ages 3-6)

Dance wear of your child’s choice, hair tied back, ballet slippers or bare feet

Academic Levels

Ladies:

• Black leotard, traditional style, unadorned; no halters, mesh, cut-outs, strap designs, etc.
• Pink tights worn underneath leotard, convertible tights worn with footed portion inside shoe
• No visible undergarments
• Pink ballet slippers or pink pointe shoes (as required)
• Skirts are appropriate for pointe classes only. No shorts, leg warmers, etc. may be worn without prior approval
• Hair secured neatly in a bun. Students arriving without hair secured will be required to purchase a hair kit in the school office ($3)
• No jewelry, except small earrings
• Only natural-appearing makeup and nail polish

Men:

• Plain white T-shirt or leotard
• Black shorts or leggings
• Black or grey tights
• White socks
• White or black shoes
• Black or tan dance belt (athletic supporter), if necessary
• Hair neatly combed back out of face and secured
• No jewelry

Class Placement

Students are placed on an individual basis and will be advanced at the Director’s discretion.

Studio Policies

We cannot be responsible for children left unattended. Students must be supervised by an adult until their class begins. Prompt pick-up after class in the downstairs studio area is required.

Please Note: For your children’s safety, we require that ALL children must ALWAYS be picked up from class downstairs, in the studio area, not upstairs or outside. Please instruct your child to wait downstairs. Do not allow children to be unattended in the parking lot. Parking in the no-parking zone is forbidden and endangers all of our children. Please park your car and come inside to pick up your child.

School Closings

We reserve the right to close the school due to inclement weather. Metropolitan Ballet Academy & Company follows “snow number” 301 (Abington School District). Please call our office at 215-663-1665 if you are unsure about the weather. A message will be on the answering machine by 2:30 pm. Closings are also posted on Metropolitan’s Facebook page. Showcase Policies

Metropolitan Ballet Academy’s Student Showcase is held annually in late spring. While participation in Showcase is not mandatory, it offers students a rewarding, professional quality performance experience. In order to choreograph, prepare costumes and plan Showcase, we require students to commit by returning a permission form and theatre fee of approximately $125. Performance in Showcase is contingent upon adequate class attendance.
