Education Improvement Tax Credit Program
Attention Business Owners: You may now be eligible to earn valuable tax credits when you support Metropolitan Ballet Company!
If you work at a local business, please share this news with your employer.
Metropolitan Ballet Company (MBC) has been approved by the Pennsylvania EITC program as an Educational Improvement Organization. The EITC program provides tax credits on a first-come, first-served basis to eligible businesses that contribute to a qualified educational improvement program, including the Kinetic Literacy Program© that Metropolitan Ballet has successfully provided to the School District of Philadelphia since 2008.
Metropolitan Ballet’s innovative Kinetic Literacy Program© is an integrated academic program that provides free, on-site movement workshops and read-aloud sessions that enhance and support the District’s Core Curricula and Standards. While in the classroom, children also learn behaviors to attend and appreciate a live theatrical performance. Classroom study culminates with the opportunity for students to attend a special matinee performance of MBC’s annual Family Concert Series free of charge. This unique dance performance series fosters literacy—and allows children to extend their classroom experiences in the theatre—by featuring dance adaptations of award-winning children’s books. Designed to introduce dance to the whole family and community, the Family Concert Series is often the first—and sometimes only—time Philadelphia schoolchildren are exposed to live performance.
For 2015, MBC is expanding its outreach to Philadelphia’s public schools to include M3 = Math x Music x Movement ©. This academically integrated enrichment program for children ages 7-9 focuses on creative problem solving tasks, grounded in the new PA Core State Standards and Standards for Mathematical Practice.
